CONSISTENCY BUILDS IT. ADAPTABILITY APPLIES IT.

Consistency is one of the most valued qualities in training.
Same lifts. Same structure. Same schedule.
This creates clarity, confidence, and buy-in, as it should.
Building consistency isn’t the problem; the question is:
“Are we applying the plan or just repeating it?”
The goal isn’t to run the same session over and over. It’s to apply the program within the context of the day and week. Every session lives inside another environment.
o Travel
o Sleep
o Game load
o Roster availability
o Time of year
The plan doesn’t change, but the situation does.
ADAPTABILITY ISN’T RANDOM
Adjusting a session doesn’t mean you’re guessing. It means you’re paying attention.
o Modifying volume before a concentrated block of competition
o Adjusting intensity based on individual readiness
o Shifting the intent of the day
o Modifying exposure without removing purpose
Not because you “feel like it” but because the situation calls for it.
THE DIFFERENCE
The best programs don’t change every day, but they allow for change each day.
There is a difference.
One is random, the other is responsive.
If everything is rigid, you miss what’s in front of you.
If everything is random, nothing sticks.
Consistency builds the system, and adaptability makes it work; that’s where coaching lives.
A SIMPLE STARTING POINT
If you want to improve your ability to adapt within your programs:
1. Define the intent of the session
2. Identify the biggest stressor of the week
3. Adjust the day without losing purpose
The structure stays the same, and the application evolves.

Consistency without awareness leads to autopilot. Adaptability without structure leads to chaos.
